Dog Saves Woman’s Life After Getting A Police Officer’s Help

A Labrador Retriever named John Boy saved his owner’s life recently in Wisconsin after running for help and finding officer Jeff Gonzales. The woman, Krystal, had collapsed in a chair on her front porch, in freezing weather. John Boy was able to find the police officer, coax the officer out of his car, and lead him down the street to the unresponsive woman.

“He stood there and barked a little bit, then I rolled down my window and called to him. Then he wagged his tail and got more friendly until I got out of my car. And then he ran a little bit,” said Gonzalez. He could tell that the dog was trying to get help.

“Yeah, he sure did. He pointed me in the right direction,” said Gonzalez.

“To be honest with you, I thought she was dead. And when I went up, she was very cold to the touch. Her lips were blue. But I was able to determine she was breathing and had a pulse. I called for assistance, and my partner was close. So together we got her in the house,” said Gonzalez.

They were able to get Krystal, medical help, and she is expected to recover.

“Basically what he told me was, he said that they thought that she was dead,” said Tianne Wendt, Krystal’s daughter about the initial call from officer Gonzalez.

Thanks to this loyal dog John Boy and a smart police officer who took the time to try to understand the dog, Krystal’s life was saved. Even more amazing, John Boy was an adopted dog who had been returned to shelter three times by three different families before he ended up with Krystal. It seems that fate worked out well for them both!
